36 Important Marine Mammal Areas created in Central and South America waters!
Good news! 36 new Important Marine Mammal Areas (IMMA) were approved for the South East Tropical and Temperate Pacific Ocean from northern Mexico to the southern tip of Chile. This is the final result from an intensive week-long workshop last June with the region’s scientists gathering data on candidate areas and submitting them for peer review. Since this workshop, Dr. Susana Cárdenas-Alayza from our team is a member of the IMMA Task Force, who will help implement coordinated actions between the member countries of this task force.
